I’m pleased to share a new poem published online this week at the wonderful journal and resource The Ekphrastic Review, which is dedicated to writing that responds to art.
This poem is from my manuscript-in-progress: a novella-in-poems about Edward Lear’s journey as a landscape painter (yes, he was more than a writer of “nonsense verse”!) into the Ottoman Empire in the mid-19th century.
The editors have paired the poem with a beautiful watercolour sketch by Lear, which gives a sense of his skills as an artist… This particular online journal is a genuine treasure trove of stories and poems if you’re someone who enjoys art. I hope you enjoy browsing their website: Ungovernable Forces, by Michael Loveday, at The Ekphrastic Review
